The Freedom Premium Whale Watch Cruise departs daily at 9:30 am (returning at 3.30pm) from Urangan Harbour during Hervey Bay’s peak whale-watching season from early July to early October. Hervey Bay is known as Australia’s whale-watching capital, being the first accredited Whale Heritage Site. Hundreds of humpback whales gather in the calm waters of Platypus Bay near K’Gari (Fraser Island), providing unparalleled opportunities to witness their playful behaviours, including breaching, pec-slapping, and rolling.

The guests often experience close encounters with curious whales approaching to investigate the boat and people onboard! This creates unforgettable moments. Expert commentary from the skipper and crew enriches the journey, offering insights into whale behaviour. The tour guarantees whale sightings, making it a must-do experience.

The season showcases different whale groups: playful juveniles arrive in July, followed by larger adults in August, and mothers with calves in September and October. This progression offers a deeper appreciation for the whales’ majesty and creates lasting memories.
