All Partners will have received a workforce survey from the FCTE marketing team this week which we urge you to complete. This is the one issue that continues to be a major treat to our industry and we need good data to put before Government decision makers to at least get Fraser Coast included in the $1500 incentive scheme enticing workers to take up tourism jobs, when the current program is reviewed in October.
The survey is being undertaken in other tourism regions so we present a total picture of the vacancy
problem. There is reasonable information on unemployed numbers but the data does not drill down to job vacancies and it is important we fill this gap with robust information from the region.
The Government is being proactive, launching a new tourism jobs website www.qld.gov.au/workinparadise. In the first 10 days the website received more than 12,134 job registrations and had more than 46,940 visits. More than half of those registrations were from job
seekers outside Queensland.
