Nothing Beets It: Shop Local at the Maryborough Markets

Nothing Beets It: Shop Local at the Maryborough Markets 1

Forget about TGIF, because here in Maryborough, it’s all about Thursday’s Market Day. At the same time and same place each week, the heritage-rich city centre is transformed into a bustling bazaar of local goods and services. Over one hundred local growers, craftsmen and creators bring the city centre to life with their array of fresh local produce, unique giftwares and entertainment.

Wander along Adelaide Street’s quaint streetscapes, peruse at your own pace and sample everything from smoked cheese, to natural deodarants, herbs, spices, pasteries and delicacies for you – and even your pooch too! A must-do activity for any mid-week travellers, or weekly shopping experience for those looking to #supportlocal and add some of the most superior products on the Fraser Coast to their basket.

When: Thursdays, 7am-midday
Where: Adelaide Street, Maryborough

Fresh from the farm to you

We know it might sound corny, but it really is true when we say that the early bird catches the worm. Early rises at the Maryborough Markets are greeted with a hot brew of organic, fairtrade coffee (thanks to the Coffee Cart of Maryborough), plenty of friendly faces, and delicious produce – straight from the farm to you.

We’re talking the freshest loaves of sourdough bread from German Bakehouse, mouth-watering homemade preserves from CC’s Kitchen, and premium quality, pasture-raised eggs from the happy hens at Brother Brother Organics. From old friends (Rene’s Exotic Olives) to new faces (Fraser Coast Mushrooms), there is always a fresh assortment of seasonal produce on offer.

Shop til’ you drop, and then refuel with the large selection to choose from for breakfast, brunch or lunch. It’s never too early to grab a gluten-free treat from Darryl’s Donuts, or a cone from Mr. Whippy Fraser Coast for that matter. And for the savoury lovers, a spud from Hot Baked Potatoes Fraser Coast or a snack from MAD Popcorn will be sure to hit the spot. Enjoy it to take away, or join us in the sunshine as we save you a spot ‘on the green’ nearby City Hall.

Showcasing amazing local talent

Got a birthday or other celebration coming up? Stuck for ideas on what to get that special someone? Or maybe you are just looking to #treatyourself. Either way, the Maryborough Markets has a wide range of unique gifts and homewares to suit any occasion. You’ll be spoilt for choice as you decide between luxurious bath salts and bathroom essentials from Fraser Coast Soap Co., dried bouquets and handmade candles from Kelly Fredline Florist, or a pair of perfectly imperfect handmade earrings from Serafina’s Soiree.

Go green and restrock the kitchen and bathroom with Earth Wrapping’s wide selection of plastic-free pot scrubs, bamboo straws, cleaning cloths and cutlery. Practice some selfcare, and pickup some Archie’s Ache-Away Lavender Deep Tissue Repair, and then dress to impress with a unique handcrafted piece from Mac Leathercraft – don’t forget to say g’day to Macdog the cattle dog while you’re there.
