Eli Creek 12

Eli Creek is the largest freshwater creek on the eastern beach of Fraser Island with historical significance. A significant landmark to the local Butchulla people, every hour around 4 million litres of clear, freshwater is pumped into the ocean. Eli Creek is an ideal picnic and swimming spot, with a boardwalk that follows the creek inland. Swimming or floating down the creek from the bridge at the far end of the boardwalk is a breathtaking experience for visitors to encounter.

Tip: Take care when driving throuhg the creek on the beach, as its fast-flowing water can gouge out deep channels, it’s best to take a break and go for a swim until you can cross the creek at the lower end of the bench.
