The Fraser Coast Hinterland is rich with heritage and culture. Twisting through the Hinterland is the magnificent Mary River, home to rare turtle species and the ancient lungfish. The Southern Hinterland townships of Tiaro and Bauple are alive with art, history and nature. Visit the historical Gympie, or ride the Valley Rattler through the beautiful Mary Valley.

On the western rim of the Fraser Coast's hinterland lies the district of Woocoo, the aboriginal name for echidna. The heart of cattle country, this region is set amongst rolling green hills, rugged bushland and massive granite outcrops.

If you keep heading further west you reach the small townships Kilkivan, Moffatdale, Goomeri and Murgon - hidden gems that are punctuated with restaurants, eateries, wineries and verdant landscapes.

North lies the historic rural townships of Childers and Apple tree Creek, fascinating places in which to explore the streets, local wineries, cafes and local produce.
