Dan, Steph & Emmy
Fraser Coast Tourism Ambassadors
Home-grown heroes

The Fraser Coast, home to humpback whales, Mary Poppins and My Kitchen Rules champions, Dan, Steph & Emmy! Our beloved trio have become household names across Australia for their time on popular cooking television series, My Kitchen Rules, but when they’re not snagging 10’s from Manu, Pete and Colin, you’ll find them out and about enjoying their hometown here on the Fraser Coast.
Whether it’s Dan’s morning run along Hervey Bay’s Charlton Esplanade, helping Emmy build sandcastles at one of our family-friendly beaches or camping at the world’s largest sand island, it’s not hard to understand why Dan & Steph have chosen to raise a family in the same place they grew up.
In 2020, Dan, Steph & Emmy were announced as official Tourism Ambassadors of the Fraser Coast. Follow along their adventures on Facebook and Instagram as they explore some of the many reasons why you should #VisitFraserCoast.

Explore the iconic Urangan Pier
Creating family memories shore has never been easier at the Urangan Pier! With 868-meters of boardwalk to explore, family-fun (and incredible ocean views!) are endless here. Whether it’s dolphin spotting or fishing, enjoy panoramic views stretching from Hervey Bay to Fraser Island here at one of the longest piers in Australia.

Venture along the Charlton Esplanade
Stretching for 17-kilometers along the beautiful Hervey Bay foreshore, the Charlton Esplanade boasts plenty of green space, parks and BBQ facilities along the way for families to soak up and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. There are also hire facilities (including these surrey bikes from Aquavue!) for those wanting to try something a little different!

Cool off at Wetside Water Park
Our very own Wetside Water Park was voted by TripAdvisor as one of the top waterpark’s around the world, for good reason too. It boasts plenty of water spouts, slides, dunk buckets, pay-as-you-go wave rider and lights to keep the kids entertained for hours (Emmy loves the whale!) – plus entry is absolutely FREE! So you can enjoy your morning coffee away from the splash-zone – win-win!

Get adventurous on the water!
Feeling a bit adventurous? Well, there is plenty of watersports equipment for hire that’s suitable for little and big kids alike! Dan & Steph recently gave stand up paddle boarding their best shot – and were naturals on the jet skis! The beautiful, calm waters of Hervey Bay are the perfect place for big and little kids to try out some new toys.

Visit Fraser Island
From safe freshwater lakes and creeks for the kids to play, to rugged bush track, ancient rainforests and the awe-inspiring beauty of Lake Mckenzie, the world’s largest sand island also known as K’gari is a must see! Hervey Bay is the gateway to Fraser Island offering a number of touring and transport options by land, sea or air.

Experience Australia’s best whale watching
Create family memories together and experience the majestic humpback whales here in Hervey Bay. The whales visit our calm and sheltered waters between July – November every year. Renowned for their curiosity, encounters in Hervey Bay are an extremely intimate experience and why it’s been dubbed the whale watch capital of the world! This is a day out the whole family will enjoy.

Enjoy a family BBQ and picnic
In between running around at Wetside Water Park and exploring the Fraser Coast, it’s nice to have some downtime. Hervey Bay offers endless green space along the Charlton Esplanade. Whether it’s at Seafront Oval, Pier Park or near the Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club – there is plenty of BBQ facilities, tables and chairs as well as green space to enjoy a lazy afternoon with the family.

Discover the magic of The Story Bank
Discover the magic of Mary Poppins and storytelling at The Story Bank in Maryborough. The birthplace of author P.L. Travers, the Story Bank will get the imagination of your little ones running wild. Explore The Story Vault, Theaterette and the other beautifully restored rooms for a fantastic day out with the whole family in one of Queensland’s oldest townships.

Beachside camping (literally beachside!)
Experience coastal paradise at it’s best by camping at one of the beachside caravan parks in Hervey Bay. Build sandcastles, take a dip in our family-friendly beaches, then wander up the dunes for some lunch. What better way to spend the holidays? More of a glamper than a camper? There are plenty of cabins (and even retro camper trailers thanks to 333 Retro Campervans) to suit all your needs!
