BURRUM COAL DISCOVERY FESTIVAL Inc. “Coalfest”
Event July 17
Festival for the people, began in 2013 to celebrate 150 years since the discovery of coal in our area. It has been held every year since, except for this year when it was cancelled due to the Covid epidemic. The coal was extremely important in 1863, as it enabled a rail road to be used to carry coal to the Gympie gold fields.
We have entertainment all day, as well as Grand Parade through the streets of Howard, a fantastic Car Show, Art Exhibition, Live Entertainment on 2 stages, Stalls, Light Horse Brigade, Dog Obedience and other animals. In addition to this there are numerous stalls showcasing ancient crafts and trades, art & craft and a Food Court.
Every year there is something new, such as the fantastic chainsaw artist who creates the most amazing things from a trunk of a tree and a chainsaw.
