Live aboard The Oceania Project Project's Whale Expedition vessel 'Moon Dancer' for five nights six days in Hervey Bay, Queensland. Join humpback whale experts Trish and Wally Franklin and become part of a research team who have been studying humpback whales in Hervey Bay for over 20 years. Each day is spent observing up to seven pods and 14 individual humpback whales, sometimes up close and very personal. Whilst humpback whales are the primary research focus of the expedition you will likely also encounter other species of whales, several species of dolphins, turtles, a variety of sea-birds and possibly a dugong. Anchor at night in safety under the lee of magnificent Fraser Island and enjoy the informative evening presentations and round table discussions that will take you into a deeper understanding of whales and their ocean environment. The Oceania Project's whale expedition is a long-term research platform that is contributing to the understanding of humpback whale social behaviour and social organisation. As an expedition participant you will not only be supporting the ongoing research program but creating your own unique opportunity to experience and learn about humpbacks whales in the magnificent setting of Hervey Bay.
